The International Wine Challenge (IWC), one of the most relevant competitions in the world wine industry, revealed its Trophy 2019 winners.
The participating wines were chosen from Gold medal-winning wines that have undergone further rigorous blind tasting by a panel of international wine experts, resulting in the Trophy winners, a very prestigious accolade from one of the world’s most influential wine competitions.
Doña Paula Selección de Bodega 2016, which had received a Gold Medal with 96 points, one of the two highest scoring argentinean Wines, achieved the Mendoza Malbec Trophy, positioning itself as the area’s best. The tasting note read “Leathery, with good potency, and dried fruits. Great potential going forward with concentrated, ripe tannins. A muscular Wine”.
Sourced from the Alluvia estate in Gualtallary, Tupungato, the 2016 vintage of Selección de Bodega is the fresher version in aromas and acidity in the history of this wine, because of the cold year. It has great complexity, with aromas of red fuits as raspberries, blueberries, spices and minty notes; these are accompanied by marked mineral aromas reminiscent of chalk and graphite. Elegant in the mouth and freshness given by its balanced acidity. Firm and juicy tannins, with a very persistent finish. Ideal for prolonged cellaring.
