March 2020.- For over 28 years, Tim Atkin MW, one of the most internationally recognized critics worldwide, has visited Argentina seeking for an in-depth knowledge of the local wine scene. In mid-March, the Master of Wine released the main scores for Argentinean wines, which will be followed by his Special Report with tasting notes and podium winners on the country later on the year.
Doña Paula was awarded outstanding scores across its different ranges. Selección de Bodega Malbec 2017, Doña Paula’s icon wine, received 94 points. In addition, Doña Paula Alluvia Parcel Malbec 2017, made from bush vines, obtained 95 points.
The Altitute Blends, an innovative line of the winery that highlights the different altitudes its vineyards are located, was also praised by Tim Atkin MW. Doña Paula Altitude Series 1350 2018 received 93 points, while Doña Paula Altitude Series 1100 2018 was awarded 92 points. Conversely, Doña Paula Altitude Series 969 2019 obtained 91 points.
Closing the tasted wines, the Estate range shined with its two blends, Doña Paula Estate Black Edition 2018, based on Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Petit Verdot, and Doña Paula Estate Blue Edition 2018, made mainly from Malbec supported by Pinot Noir and Bonarda, both of which received a score of 91. On the whites, Doña Paula Estate Riesling 2018 was awarded 92 points and Doña Paula Estate Chardonnay 2019 received 90 points. Lastly, Doña Paula Estate Malbec 2019 obtained 90 points.
