Buenos Aires, September 2017.- From September 4 to 8, 2017 a new edition of the “Argentina Wine Awards” was held in Mendoza, the most anticipated event of the year that rewards the best exported examples of the country. In its 11th edition, under the concept of “Argentina Breaking New Ground”, Doña Paula was one of the most distinguished wineries, receiving 17 medals in this important contest that had long rounds of blind tastings, with 12 international and seven national judges to taste and rate the best wines.
Doña Paula 969 2016, a blend that will be launched in early 2018, reached the highest AWA recognition, a Trophy. This wine, elaborated with Petit Verdot, Bonarda and Tannat, is complex and balanced, emphasizing its floral and fruity aromas. This wine comes from Finca El Alto in Luján de Cuyo at 969 meters above sea level. It is made in ovoid concrete tanks and it is not aged in oak.
Meanwhile, Doña Paula Selección de Bodega Malbec 2014 received a Gold Medal This wine is the result of a blend of the best terroirs that the winery has: Finca El Alto, with predominantly clay soils; Finca Alluvia, with mineral and stony soils; and Finca Los Indios, with calcareous and sandy soils.
Doña Paula Los Indios Parcel 2013, also obtained Gold Medal. This wine comes from plots of Finca Los Indios located in Altamira, San Carlos, Uco Valley, at 1,150 meters above sea level. It has an intense purplish red color with black highlights. In the nose, it has aromas of violets, black fruits, great freshness and spicy notes. In the mouth, it emphasizes its great concentration, marked acidity and silky tannins. It is very elegant and has great ageing potential.

In addition, seven other wines were awarded a Bronze Medal among the more than 600 samples from the terroirs of almost all the country that participated in this tasting organized by Wines of Argentina and the Corporación Vitivinícola Argentina (Coviar).
These important acknowledgments confirm the effort and dedication of Doña Paula to produce high quality wines that are faithful representatives of the country’s terroirs.
