Eleven of Doña Paula’s wines received 90+ points by the English critic.
March 2019.- It has been more than 27 years since Tim Atkin MW, one of the most internationally recognized critics worldwide, visits Argentina seeking for an in-depth knowledge of the local wine scene. This year, although it has not yet revealed its Special Report, the main scores for Argentinean wines have already been released.
Moreover, Doña Paula received excellent scores; its icon Wine, Selección de Bodega Malbec 2016, was awarded with the highest, reaching 95 points. Sourced from the Alluvia estate located in Gualtallary, Tupungato, this wine has an intense and deep violet-black color. Because 2016 was a cold year, it is the fresher version in aromas and acidity in Selección de Bodega’s history. Of great complexity, we can find berries aromas, such as raspberries, blueberries, spices and minty notes; they blend with marked mineral aromas with hints of chalk and graphite. In the palate, it shows elegance and great freshness given by its balanced acidity. With firm and juicy tannins, is has a very persistent finish, ideal for a prolonged bottle ageing.
In addition, Atkin also awarded the Altitude Blends line, wines that are named after the altitude in which their vineyards are planted. Thus, Doña Paula 1100 2017 achieved 93 points, Doña Paula 1350 2017 gained 92 points and Doña Paula 969 2018 received 91 points.
